19 More Died
19 more babies have died in Bankura and Malda district hospitals in the last two days. Infants’ deaths are taking a toll in Bengal after B.C. Roy hospital and are proving to be a curse for the Medical line where the hospitals and nursing homes are proved to be a boon but nowadays it is becoming centers of tears and shouts of infants’ parents in a daily basis. Now the one and only question comes in people’s mind – Are the babies and the children safe in our state? But after this incident people are so disappointed with the health department of West Bengal.
It has been known from the sources that ten babies died at the Bankura Sammilani Medical College whereas the rest nine died at the Malda Medical College and Hospital.
A doctor said that, the death these babies were due to meningitis, pneumonia and low birth weight.
Between the nine babies died in Malda hospital, seven of them were 15 days old. Most of them who came from rural hospitals in Malda district and outside were mostly suffering from pneumonia to septicemia.
With nine more deaths this morning the death list in the hospital toll up to 125 in the last 16days. The Superintendent said that the experts belonging to the Sick Newborn Care would shortly visit the hospital and look into its infrastructure and what more is needed.
Infants’ death at West Bengal has been increasing in hospitals and medical homes under government facilities and is putting a big question on the health security of the new borns who are the future of the society.
The Honourable Chief Minister of our state Mamata Banerjee said recently that the deaths are basically due to the malnutrition and birth at home.
Many infants are dying making their parents hopes shattered due to their birth at home and not because of malfunctioning at hospitals. They are brought to the hospitals when there are rare chances of their survival or either they are gasping for air where there are no chances of treating them. She added.
