Godown catches fire in Kolkata without any casualities
Tangra industrial estate caught fire yester night when a rage of fire surrounded it in eastern Kolkata. Fire brigade sources said that the fire was first noticed on the ground floor of the building before it spread to the other floors of the seven storey building.
20 fire engines soon rushed to the spot of the incident acting actively and got the blaze under control with fast reaction from them.
The firemen also informed that there were no reports of casualties or injured due to the fire.
Fire services minister Javed Khan said that the fire was expected to be totally doused within a couple of hours. Work is now on to douse the fire on the second floor.
Local MLA Swarnakamal Saha said, locals came out for help initially before the fire brigade arrived which indeed added to the helping hands and made the work of the firemen easier.
Pointing out that elastic and foam were stored in the building, he said that a stack of elastic first caught fire which spread as there was inflammable material around.
The owner of the building has complained that it was a case of sabotage, to which the minister Khan said, they will look into the complaint. Forensic experts will come tomorrow to find the exact cause of fire.
