India ensures their way towards the Olympic Qualifiers

Feb 22, 12 India ensures their way towards the Olympic Qualifiers

The glorious victory against France just took India four minutes into the second half to finish the match with a remarkable performance at the Major DhyanChand National Stadium yesterday.

The first half was set perfectly with India scoring 3 goals and France reducing the margin, just before the half time hooter. It was unfortunate for France when they lost the platform to score
goals but they had to admit the two quick return goals by India. One goal scored by Sandeep Singh from India’s second penalty corner in the 37th minutes followed by Sunil after that.

France simply played a catch up game. France did manage to pull one back in the 57th minute through Fabien Magner, but Tushar Khandker underlined India’s superiority with a spectacular goal in the 62nd minute. The French had  to blame themselves for the margin of the defeat as they failed to capitalize on the chances.

Sandeep Singh scored a hat-trick with his magic stick for the hosts. While two of them came from penalty corner, one was the result of the next penalty stroke conversion. So far India has scored 28 goals in the tournament. India took 3-1 lead in the half time.

This victory of 6-2 against the France almost ensured India in the final as they are now the only team in the group to have collected nine points from three matches. Whereas, the three other teams Canada, France & Poland are at the same position with six points each.
