Nathan Ellis to Jhye Richardson. Slower length ball, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, to deep mid wicket for 2 runs, mis-fielded by Short. Hobart Hurricanes have beaten Perth Scorchers by 8 runs in a cracking match at Optus Stadium. D'Arcy Short was the hero for the visitors, smashing a sublime unbeaten century including seven towering sixes. He was circumspect to begin with, getting used to conditions before unleashing a brutal assault at the death. On 97 with a ball to go he played an audacious scoop that sailed over the rope to spark celebrations from the Hurricanes dugout. In reply, the hosts were left reeling early on as they lost three wickets inside the powerplay. That meant skipper Mitchell Marsh had a lot to do with the required run rate always on the rise. Once he was dismissed the result never looked in doubt despite some late hitting from Jhye Richardson lowering the margin.

SIX! Nathan Ellis to Jhye Richardson. Half volley, outside off stump on the front foot driving, well timed in the air under control over long on for 6 runs. Richardson keeps swinging hard, Ellis might just be a bit nervous while it is still mathematically possible to pull this off.

SIX! Scott Boland to Jhye Richardson. Back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot Slog, well timed in the air under control over deep backward square leg for 6 runs. Boom, that's gone miles. Probably the biggest boundary on the field and Richardson clears it with room to spare. He hasn't given up hope yet.

OUT! Caught. Nathan Ellis to Ashton Agar. Back of a length, down leg side on the front foot pulling, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to long on, by Short. Everything Short touches turns to gold tonight. Agar thought he had enough power on this to clear him but the Hurricanes opener made the catch look like a piece of cake. Hurricanes coasting towards a massive two points in Perth.

OUT! Caught. Tom Rogers to Mitchell Marsh. Full toss, middle stump on the front foot flick, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to deep mid wicket, by Jewell. Snaffled diving forward, superb catch by Jewell and that could spell the end for the hosts. Rogers took Marsh by surprise with the high full toss and the big allrounder could only skew it softly. Hurricanes are pumped up, they know this should be in the bag for them now.

FOUR! Scott Boland to Mitchell Marsh. Slower ball back of a length, outside off stump on the back foot cutting, well timed past deep backward point for 4 runs. Marsh carries on his merry way, as long as he is at the crease the Scorchers faithful will have belief.

OUT! Caught (Sub). Scott Boland to Tim David. Slower ball short, outside off stump down the track driving, mis-timed in the air uncontrolled to extra cover. Gone this time, bamboozled by the change of pace and it loops up tamely. Clive Rose is the sub fielder and he makes no mistake. That was a handy cameo from David but nothing more.

SIX! Scott Boland to Tim David. Back of a length, outside off stump on the front foot pulling, well timed in the air under control over deep mid wicket for 6 runs. Another over starts with a six, is the momentum just shifting slightly? David got that right out of the screws and the crowd appreciated it. That's put a real dent in Boland's figures.
