Jhye Richardson

Jhye Richardson

A former Australian Under-19 fast bowler, Richardson made his list-A debut with Western Australia during the 2015 Marsh One-Day Cup. Ending up as a prolific wicket-taker at underage level for his state, he was also named vice-captain of the 2015-16 Under-19 squad. Following a breakout season in the 2016/17 Big Bash League, Richardson was named to debut for Australia against Sri Lanka in T20 cricket. In January 2019, nearly a year after his ODI debut, Richardson shone in the opening game of the series against India at the SCG, recording his career best statistics of 4/26 which included the wicket of Virat Kohli. In the same month, he was added to the Test squad for the series against Sri Lanka but a shoulder injury sustained during an ODI against Pakistan cruelled his chances of making the 2019 ODI World Cup and Ashes squads.

Richardson was player of the match in the BBL|06 final, helping the Perth Scorchers to their third BBL title with his 3 for 30.
